Dubai Islands is a five-island waterfront development by Nakheel off the coast of Deira, one of the areas already described in Republic's area directory. This guide sets out, in plain language, what the district actually is and what matters before renting or buying here.
Dubai Islands is Nakheel's five-island master plan (Central, Shore, Golf, Marina and Elite islands) off the coast of Deira. According to Nakheel, the development spans over 60 kilometres of waterfront and more than 20 kilometres of beaches, including a Blue Flag-certified beach, alongside parks, golf courses, hotels and shopping.
Golf Island carries an 18-hole championship course, Marina Island is planned around multiple marinas, and Shore Island combines beach clubs with wellness and sports facilities, with landscaped parks running along roughly 2km of shoreline. Much of the community, including Bay Grove Residences, Bay Villas and the Rixos Hotel & Residences, is still under construction.
Dubai Islands is a freehold zone open to foreign buyers, with golf, marinas and beach clubs planned across the five islands, and a second bridge to Bur Dubai under construction by the RTA alongside the existing Infinity Bridge. Against that: no schools, nurseries or clinics operate on the islands themselves yet, the nearest options are a 10 to 15-minute drive away in Abu Hail and Deira, there is no metro station on Dubai Islands, the nearest stations (Union, Baniyas Square, Salah Al Din) are in Deira, and much of the community is still off-plan or under construction.
This overview does not replace a look at current listings: use the project and property sections above on this area page for units available on Dubai Islands right now, browse the apartments segment for options across Dubai, or use the calculators section to estimate costs before making an offer.
