Meydan is a freehold district developed by Meydan Group in the Nad Al Sheba area of Dubai, built around Meydan Racecourse at the crossroads of Al Khail Road and Al Meydan Road. Opened in 2010, the racecourse is the permanent home of the Dubai World Cup and includes The Meydan hotel, a 285-room five-star hotel built directly alongside the track. The wider district combines the racecourse and hotel with residential sub-communities, most notably District One, a 1,100-acre masterplan of villas by Meydan Group around man-made lagoons and canals.
At a glance
Life in Meydan revolves around Meydan Racecourse and the Dubai Racing Carnival it hosts from November to March, alongside a quieter, villa-focused residential side in District One, where 1,600 villas sit around landscaped lagoons and a lakeside promenade used for walking and cycling. The Meydan hotel and racecourse grandstand host events and dining year-round, while daily errands mostly rely on Downtown Dubai and Business Bay, both about a 10-minute drive away.
Meydan has no metro station of its own; area guides most often cite Business Bay metro station (Red Line) as the nearest, about a 10-minute drive away. The district sits at the crossroads of Al Khail Road (E44) and Al Meydan Road, with Ras Al Khor Road also nearby, giving direct road access to Downtown Dubai and Business Bay in around 10 minutes.
District One families most often cite GEMS Wellington Academy and Repton School Dubai, about 15 minutes away, alongside Hartland International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai, about 10 minutes away, as the schools serving the district.
Meydan overlaps the wider Nad Al Sheba area, where Nad Al Sheba Health Centre provides general medical services and the American Hospital Nad Al Sheba Clinic offers specialised care.
